A little boy named Charlie

Finally! A brand new illustration! Some of you may have been able to tell right away that I've been inspired by a Tim Burton-esque drawing style. I've been in a rut though because this is a brand new style to me. I actually like this a whole lot better than the "realism" I've usually leaned on in the past. My past few illustrations have been of my self, which is probably why I dislike them so much. I hate drawing myself because it never looks how I think it should.
So since I was in a state of "drawers block" I started thinking of "the man himself" Mr. Tim Burton. Throughout the duration of my life, I've always been inspired by his quirky films and chilling characters. The Nightmare Before Christmas was always a favorite of mine (especially in my Emo phase...we don't talk about that..) ever since I was a little kid. Being quite enthralled by darkness and odd proportions, Burton's creations have given me so much inspiration. The Illustration above is an interpretation of Charlie and the Chocolate factory. I just started drawing and ended up with what I saw as little Charlie Buckett and went from there. This inspired me to do a collage of either Johnny Depp's characters by Burton or another Burton actress I idolize, Helena Bonham Carter. So look for that in the future!
