Role Models

From my previous posts, you know that I've been wrapped up in the 50's-60's era of history. I've always had a great love for old hollywood, and some of my biggest idols come from that time. Grace kelly and Audrey Hepburn are two female figures I try to embody every day. They have such grace (pardon the pun..) and poise about them, and I feel like more women these days should model their behaviors after them. Some day's I think to myself "what would Grace do?" or "What would Audrey do?".
Now, another iconic woman also emerged from that era. Miss Marilyn Monroe (Norma Jean Baker). I know that many people find her inspiring for more reasons than one, but I can honestly say that I find her sort of overrated. A few months back I saw "My Week with Marilyn" with the deliciously freckled Eddie Redmayne..Anyways, I found myself unimpressed with the story of the iconic blonde. I mean I respect the fact that she overcame many obstacles with her insecurities, but for  women to quote her as an inspiration to not be insecure is just sort of..weird.
I made this illustration to represent how Grace and Audrey are usually overshadowed by miss Marilyn, when if anything I think they were far better actresses and role models. Although I'm not a huge fan of Marilyn I still think that every woman should take bits and pieces of these three women.
